We'd love to have your group come to the Heart of Country Antiques Show! It's come to be the best known Americana show in the nation - it's so much fun and Nashville is a wonderful destination as well - overflowing with history and music. Heart of Country takes place in the Opryland Hotel which is a world unto itself and I'm sure your group will find it and the entire area completely entertaining. Here's a run down of events for the Spring Spectacular next March 12, 13, 14, 2009:
The show begins with a fabulous Garden “Floriganza” Preview Party on Thursday evening, March 12 starting at 6 p.m. with live music, a lavish buffet, special exhibits, over 100 booths of the finest American decorative arts for sale in all price ranges, and a festive evening mingling with collectors and antique enthusiasts from all over the country. The show continues Friday, March 13 with a Heart of Country favorite; the popular early morning pre-show Walking Tour conducted by knowledgeable guides. This requires a separate ticket and really brings the show to life for new and experienced collectors alike. At 1 p.m. a special talk features the colorful and whimsical display of antique folk art hooked rugs entitled "Folk Art Underfoot." On Saturday, March 14 at 1 p.m. Heart of Country presents, "The ABC's of American Antiques; What is it and Why is it worth collecting?" This is a panel of six esteemed dealers who will each choose special examples of “Americana” and tell the story of what it is and why it's worth collecting. The Preview Party is regularly $80 a ticket. The advance sale price is $75, and the advance group price (25 people minimum) is $70. Preview tickets allow for free admission on any of the following days. Special talks are free with admission. The Friday morning Walking Tour is regularly $25 per ticket. Advance group price is $20. The special Heart of Country rate for the Opryland Hotel, single or double, is $179. Advance group price for 25 or more is $174 and must be arranged through Heart of Country. Friday evening is a perfect time to do something out on the town - or a dinner voyage up and down the Cumberland River on the General Jackson showboat. Daytime destinations could include a visit to the Hermitage (home of Andrew Jackson) or any number of plantation homes or the Cheekwood Botanical Gardens. I hope this helps with your planning! Let me know if there's anything else you might need to know in making arrangements for a trip to Heart of Country. Susan Susan Kramer Hunkins
